Background:

The developed area of Squire’s Landing Park is located at 7353 NE 175th Street in Kenmore. This waterfront park features 0.65 acres with over 150 lineal feet of shoreline access to the Sammamish River and Swamp Creek. It is adjacent to a 40+ acre area of undeveloped open space Development plans for the larger part of Squire’s Landing can be viewed here.  Squire's Landing is host to youth and adult canoe, kayak and dragon boat programs. The park is named in honor of Watson Squire, an early Kenmore developer who had visions for a local waterfront park in the early 1900s.

Project Description:

Prior conditions

This residential property was purchased by the city in 2014 and it included an old floating dock with a makeshift ramp. In spite of its condition, the public immediately put it to use as a great place to launch hand-powered kayaks and paddle boards. This project replaced the float and paved the gravel access path and accessible parking stall.

Cost:

Construction of the float and site improvements cost $85,000 including sales tax.
