Arts of Kenmore Youth Art Exhibit Opening Reception

The fourth annual Youth Art Exhibit, a juried exhibit from 26 Pacific Northwest artists, will open Friday, Nov. 18 at the Arts of Kenmore Gallery in Kenmore City Hall.

The public is invited to an opening reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 18. All artists will be recognized, and an awards presentation will honor winners in each age group – 9-12 years old, 13-15, and 16-18.

The young artists were juried into the show following an overwhelming competition of 57 entries from as far away as Kent, Mukilteo and Redmond. Featured artists include Jamie Campbell, Robert Gerth, Teagan Gonzales, Sasha Goodner, Sydney Goodner, Ivette Ivanov, Natalie Keys, Shawn Lee, Kyra Yuetong Li, Paige Marler, Andrew McMullen, Angelus McNally, Melissa Mitchell, Chandana Mudeppa, Asaki Nelson, Maisie Patterson, Jennifer Salaiz, Samay Sayala, Zoë Strand, Lucy Toner, Angie Wang, Margaret Wang, Jenny Zhan, Jasmine Zhang, Sophie Zhang, and Hang Hong Zuo.

Magic entertainment will be the highlight of the opening reception. Local magician celebrity Jonathan Docter, better known as Uncle Stinky, will enchant guests with his witty sleight of hand.

“Our annual Youth Art Exhibit has become the most anticipated show of the year for the Kenmore community,” according to gallery curator Sara Solum Hayashi. “Many of these young artists are building portfolios for college applications, and the awards have become significant to their resume.”

The artworks in this show are an eclectic confluence of applications from digital, Matissesque cut-outs, and traditional oil executions.

“Youth Art” is the latest in a series of five exhibitions mounted throughout the year by Arts of Kenmore, a nonprofit organization that also produces the annual Kenmore Art Show at Bastyr University in June. AOK Gallery exhibits are made possible by sustaining support from the City of Kenmore and 4Culture.

The mission of the Arts of Kenmore, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, is to promote the Arts in the Kenmore community through the annual art show and other programs, including arts grants to six public schools and regular exhibits at the AOK Gallery at Kenmore City Hall.

Kenmore City Hall is located at 18120 68th Ave. N.E. in Kenmore.
