Arrowhead Drive Sidewalk Project
Schedule
Design: Expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024 and expected to be complete by the fourth quarter of 2025.
Construction: Expected to begin in the Summer of 2026.
Description
The project limits include the south and west side of NE Arrowhead Dr from 64th Ave NE to NE 151st St (herein referred to as NE Arrowhead Dr). The goal of this project is to provide a safe pedestrian path and street crossings to Arrowhead Elementary School as well as to provide traffic calming on NE Arrowhead Dr. A detailed scope of work for the project is provided below.
Background
No frontage improvements currently exist on NE Arrowhead Dr from 64th Ave NE to Ne 154th St, but there is currently an extruded curb protected paved shoulder from NE 154th St to NE 151st St. Improvements to the existing walkway along Arrowhead Drive are identified in the City of Kenmore 2018 Local Road Safety Plan’s elementary school walking route enhancements. The City of Kenmore 2022 Pedestrian Facilities Plan also identifies two proposed sidewalk segments making up this project on the south and west sides of Arrowhead Drive. This project improves the existing curb-protected walkway on the west side of Arrowhead Drive and extends it north and west to 64th Ave NE, improving pedestrian connections to Arrowhead Elementary School, Saint Edward State Park, and Juanita Drive.
Funding
The Arrowhead Sidewalk Project is funded by the Safe Routes to School program and through local dollars. Total funding for the project is $2,219,395.
- Safe Routes to School program grant - $1,997,455
- Local Funds - $221,940
