Community Listening Session - American Rescue Plan Act (virtual)

ARPA Listening Session

  • Date: 11/01/2021 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

American Rescue Plan Act community listening session in November will help determine impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Kenmore, and how federal funding could be spent locally

This week, Kenmore City Council approved an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) community listening session (insert link) to be held virtually on November 1, 2021, from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The purpose of the listening session is to better understand how the Kenmore community has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and how upcoming ARPA funding proposals could be tailored to best meet the needs of the community. The community listening session will be facilitated by the City's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Consultant, Chanin Kelly-Rae. Kelly-Rae has facilitated listening sessions for other Puget Sound cities and will help bring a DEI frame to the discussion to ensure all voices in our community will be heard.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is a $1.9 trillion federal law to help the U.S. respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Kenmore will receive $6.4 million in funds in two payments: half was received mid-2021 and the remainder will be received in mid-2022. These funds will provide resources to address economic fallout from the pandemic, support individuals, businesses, and essential workers, and make investments to ensure a strong and equitable response to - and recovery from - the pandemic.

Visit the City's ARPA site for more information.
