Home MenuAccessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)
Kenmore has permitted more than 60 accessory dwelling units as of 2021. In 2020 the City amended its ADU regulations to encourage development of ADUs, including extinguishment of the owner occupancy requirement after the first six months of consecutive occupancy.
In an effort to promote diversified and attainable housing options, the Kenmore City Council approved Resolution no. 23-400 to waive building permit fees for the construction of new accessory dwelling units (ADUs). The resolution and revised fee schedule went into effect July 1, 2023. ADU fee waivers remain a part of the current (2024) fee schedule as well.
