Visit all designated stations (no purchase necessary) with your stamp sheet, available at the Hangar and City Hall, and receive a Kenmore, WA fleece beanie hat with a reflective safety stripe (while supplies last).

Vendors include 10 Kenmore crafters and artisans, 5 very special youth vendors, and 24 additional creators from nearby cities. Please visit the POP! Wrap up your holiday shopping by visiting our free gift wrapping station featuring butcher paper and colorful yarn, with volunteers to help you keep those special gifts hidden from prying eyes.
Igloo Building Contest Information and Rules
What are igloos? (From Britannica.com/technology/igloo)
Igloos are temporary winter homes built by Inuit people of Canada and Greenland. The word "igloo" comes from the Inuit word "igdlu," which means "house." The building structures are usually made of hard-packed snow cut into rectangular bricks, and stacked in a narrowing circumference to create a domed roof. Their design keeps families warm in cold weather by trapping body heat inside the dome.
Contest and Building Parameters:
- One entry per family
- Each entry must have contact info including name, email, and phone no. on the underside (not visible while displayed)
- Entire igloo at the base (including the base) can be no larger than 1 foot by 1 foot, and no more than 2 feet tall
- Building must be an original design
- Building must be made by stacking some type of blocks
- No restrictions on type of material used for stacking
- Building must have a dome roof
- Entry must be stable enough to stand up and be moved easily
Entries Will Be Judged On:
- Creativity of building material used
- Creativity of design
- Integrity of structure (is it stable and does it stand independently?)
- Adherence to building parameters
Prize Awarded For:
- Best entry overall (judged)
- Best entry by vote (people's choice)
When and Where to Deliver and Pick Up Entries:
- Deliver entries to City Hall lobby on Thursday, December 12th during normal City Hall open hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm.
- Entries must be received by end of day Thursday, December 12th.
- Entries will remain on display at City Hall until Winterfest is over at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14th.
- Entries may be picked up at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14th, or Monday, December 16th between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Entries not picked up by 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16th will be discarded.
Voting slips will be available at City Hall during the Winterfest event.
Get those creative juices flowing, and please plan to vote for your favorite entry whether or not you are entering the contest!
Donations of food to help area residents will be accepted in the lobby of Kenmore City Hall during the Winterfest event. An alternative is to visit Safeway in Kenmore to make donations for their annual holiday food drive, which also benefits area families.
