Lower Swamp Creek Bridge Replacement

NE 175th Street and Swamp Creek (south of Burke Gilman Trail near 80th Avenue NE)
Project Description:
This project includes the design and construction of a new bridge over lower Swamp Creek to replace the aging existing bridge.
Background:
The bridge over Swamp Creek at NE 175th Street has been categorized as structurally deficient/functionally obsolete and is now recommended for replacement. This structure is located on NE 175th Street, adjacent to the Burke Gilman Trail. The existing bridge spans lower Swamp Creek and serves as the only public access to 30 residential parcels. It is routinely evaluated by the King County Bridge Engineering group and maintenance is provided to the structure as needed. A Bridge Load Rating/Alternatives Analysis study was performed by Jacobs Engineering in 2016 (and later updated by KPFF Engineers in 2023) to provide guidance to the city on suitable design options and associated costs to replace the aging bridge.
